Shilpi Pandey
Biography
Shilpi Pandey is a Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Law and Criminology at VUB in Brussels. She has a strong academic background, having completed an LL.M. in International and European law at the Institute for European Studies in Brussels with Summa Cum Laude honours and an Outstanding Master's Thesis. She also holds an LL.M. in International Law with International Relations from the Brussels School of International Studies, University of Kent, with a thesis distinction.
Shilpi has published numerous articles and papers in various peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Critical Southern Studies, Juidische Meesterwerken VUB, and edited volumes such as Migration and Culture: Implementation of Cultural Rights of Migrants and VUB Press's Edited Volume on Migration, Equality, and Racism. Her research interests include the intersection of law, gender, religion, and politics, with a focus on minority women's rights, decolonization, and the impact of secularism.
She has presented her research at various international conferences, including the UCSIA Summer School on “Religion, Mobility & Economy” and the Poetics and Politics of Imagination: Causes and Obstacles to Prosperity Dec 2022 ERC Funded Project. She is also a member of professional networks such as the Race, Religion & Secularism Network at Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands, and is an Editorial Board Member of Exchanges: The Interdisciplinary Research Journal, University of Warwick.
