René Kreichauf is an FWO postdoc fellow at Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research and a lecturer in the Erasmus Mundus MSc 4CITIES and the MSc Urban Studies master’s degree programs. He did his PhD at Cosmopolis and in association with the Graduate School of North American Studies (Freie Universität Berlin) about the development of local policies in response to the immigration of forced migrants in European and U.S. cities. He researches and teaches on topics such as forced migration and displacement, urban asylum and migration regimes, migrant detention and refugee camps, migrant activism and protest, state violence, urban transformation trends and capitalist urbanization processes, and socio-spatial inequalities in and between cities.
