Biography
Pieter-Paul Verhaeghe is professor of Sociology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. In 2012 he successfully defended his PhD about the (re)producing role of social capital for ethnic and socio-economic inequalities in health and during the labour market entrance.
He currently teaches the courses "Social Change and inequalities in Europe", "Current Issues in Well-being" , Migration and the Multicultural Society", “Statistics for the Social Sciences” and "Generalized Linear Techniques" at the VUB.
His current research interests include discrimination, poverty, residential segregation, housing, migration and the secular state. Pieter-Paul Verhaeghe currently works on research projects and prepares publications on: the causes and consequences of discrimination; hidden populations in cities; ethnic segregation patterns; and migration.
