Biography
Gaia Romeo is a PhD candidate in the Centre for Migration, Diversity and Justice of the Brussels School of Governance. Her research focuses on the EU safe third country policies and practices and their impact on the human rights of migrants and refugees. Gaia studied Modern and Contemporary History in Rome, Brussels and Aix-en-Provence. Before joining the Centre, Gaia worked on a range of topics including migration, asylum, human rights and civil liberties in the NGO A Buon Diritto in Rome, at the UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva, in the Secretariat of the European Parliament and in the NGO EuroMed Rights in Brussels.
