Esther de Graaf
Biography
Esther de Graaf holds a Master’s degree in Criminology (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 2010). After her studies, she gained during two years’ experience in the field as a mediator in the context of the municipal administrative sanctions. She obtained her PhD, which focused on the perception of delinquent boys and professionals in closed youth institutions about placement, conflicts, and complaints in 2018. After her PhD she worked a while as a consultant in special Youth Care. Currently Esther is a post-doctoral researcher, and she is working on a project about the diversity policy within the Brussels Police. Esther’s research interests lie in the field of youth criminology, children’s rights, diversity policies within the police and youngsters and the police.
