Biography
Dirk Lafaut is a philosopher and a family physician. He is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher in the Framework of an IUC project funded by VLIR. He is also appointed as guest-lecturer Contemporary Humanism till September 2024. Dirk obtained his PhD in Philosophy and Ethics in 2021 with his doctoral thesis: ‘The ethics of bordering healthcare: A study on healthcare access of undocumented migrants in Brussels (Belgium). He worked as a PhD fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). Before becoming a researcher Dirk worked as a physician in different humanitarian organizations settings, and as a GP in a community health center in Gent. Dirk obtained his medical degree at Universiteit Gent (Belgium) in 2004.
