Dirk Devroey

Dirk Devroey promoted as a medical doctor in 1991 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB. He holds a PhD in Medicine (2004). He is head of the department of Family Medicine and Chronic Care since 2007. He is member of the interdisciplinary research group Public Health and the research cluster Integrated Health. His research focussed on epidemiology, cardiovascular prevention and stuttering. Recent research on advance care planning and hunger strikes focusses on migration and minorities. During the past five years he was the promotor of national and international research projects on integrated care, personalised medicine, drug addiction.  

He is a member of the High Council for medical specialists and general practitioners and chairman of the management committee of the Interuniversity Center for General Practitioners.
