
Chiara Rao
Biography
Chiara Rao (MA) is a PhD researcher in interpreting studies holding an FWO PhD fellowship for fundamental research. Her project, “Language and Emotion: Analyzing the Linguistic Dimensions of Vicarious Trauma in Public Service Interpreters” explores the psychological challenges of public service interpreting across various settings, as well as the linguistic manifestations of trauma. In the past, she also contributed to MHealth4All, an international project co-funded by the European Union and aimed at improving access to mental healthcare for migrants and refugees by addressing linguistic and cultural barriers. In addition to her research, Chiara has experience training intercultural mediators in the use of interpreting techniques.
