Call for Panel and Special Issue papers: The Politicisation of Local Migration Policymaking
We are pleased to announce a call for panel and special issue papers on “The Politicisation of Local Migration Policymaking.” This issue will be edited by Tiziana Caponio, Andrea Pettrachin, and Ilke Adam, and aims to provide a comprehensive examination of the drivers and effects of the politicisation of migration at the local level.
This Special Issue seeks to advance the debate on the politicisation of migration, focusing specifically on how this process unfolds at the local level—a dimension that has been largely overlooked in existing research. We invite contributions that explore a range of questions, including but not limited to:
- What are the drivers of the politicisation of migration at the local level? How do they differ from national-level drivers?
- What are the effects of local politicisation processes on migration policymaking?
- How do local actors, including those from radical right parties, influence local migration policymaking?
- How does the political affiliation of local executives shape local migration policies or affect local policy networks?
We encourage submissions that adopt comparative approaches, whether across different policy subfields, localities, regions, or time periods, to provide a nuanced understanding of these dynamics.
Key Dates:
- Internal Deadline for Contributions: September 13th, 2024
- Abstract Submission Deadline: September 30th, 2024
