Join us for the book launch of Citizens Gone: How Emigration Transforms the European State, edited by BIRMM member Christof Roos and Anna Kyriazi.
The book examines how large-scale emigration reshapes states at Europe’s periphery. It explores how emigration affects politics, welfare systems, economic models, and policy responses, including efforts by states and local governments to reconnect with or encourage the return of emigrant citizens. By looking at the political, economic, and social consequences of population loss, the volume sheds light on how European states adapt to changing forms of mobility and citizenship.
The book will be presented by Christof Roos and Anna Kyriazi, followed by a discussion with Colleen Boland.
