2024 will be a year of important elections in Belgium. Belgian regional and federal elections are scheduled on 9 June 2024, alongside the election for the European Parliament. And the local elections will take place on 13 October. Polls indicate that (far-right) parties advancing migration-critical positions likely gain electoral support. It is clear that migration will become a highly relevant, if not the most relevant theme in the campaigns of the candidates running for these elections.
These BIRMM panel conversations will provide scientifically informed input to the debate on migration and diversity, and discuss research outcomes with those who are engaged in proposing concrete policy proposals for the next governance terms. The panel discussions will bring together academics and policy makers broadly defined as all those who try to or are engaged into making policies through laws or concrete implementation on the ground. The panel conversations are open to a wider public.
