Hazar Deniz Eker

Hazar Deniz is a PhD student under the Reel Borders research project and conducts his research at the Department of Communication Sciences of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Following a MA in Communication Studies and a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Hazar Deniz researches how audiovisual narratives intersect with socio-cultural bordering practices at the Turkish-Syrian border. In addition to the project, he works as the co-leading editor for European Affairs at the European Correspondent.

Currently, Hazar Deniz regards the intersections of border security and entertainment through textual analyses of Turkish state-affiliated music videos.
