Sara Silvestre is a PhD researcher in Political Science and Public Policy at the Institute for European Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and at the ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon. Her research focus on member states´ negotiation behaviour and strategies in the Council of the European Union, in particular in the field of asylum policy. Sara is part of the IES cluster Migration, Diversity and Justice, as well as member of the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology(CIES-IUL), ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon.
She completed her BA in Social Education at the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal and her MA in European Studies at the University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom.
Turning specifically to her professional experience, she has worked as a research assistant, research support specialist, and policy and project officer.
Her research interests include European policy-making; Europeanisation; negotiation behaviour and strategies; public policy analysis, with special attention to education, health, migration and asylum policies.
