Louise is a PhD student at the political sciences department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kris Deschouwer and Prof. Dr. Eline Severs). Her doctoral research focuses on contemporary expressions of citizens’ indignation in Belgium. Her case selection includes a range of social and contentious movements which have emerged since 2014 in the Belgian context (e.g. the Citizen Platform for Refugee Support, Yellow Vests, and other ongoing cases). Drawing on a set of qualitative methods – from social media analysis to interviews, participant observation and focus groups - she is interested in what these citizens have to say on ‘politics’ today. Louise also held previous positions in academia – at the Centre for European Policy Studies (2011-2014) – and in European institutions – working as a parliamentary assistant in the European Parliament (2010-2017).
