Biography

Biography 

Bart Lambert studied medieval history at Ghent University, where he completed his PhD on the Italian commercial presence in the Burgundian Low Countries in 2011. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher on the AHRC-funded ‘England’s Immigrants, 1330-1550’ project and the HERA-project ‘CitiGen: Identity, Citizenship and Nationhood in the Post-Genome Era’ at the University of York (2012-2014 and 2016-2018) and as a lecturer at Durham University (2014-2016). Bart joined the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the HOST (Historical Research into Urban Transformation Processes) research group as an assistant professor in 2018. His research focuses on the economic, political and social history of the later Middle Ages, with a special interest in the study of international trade and migration flows in Europe between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries.
